We are located in Keerbergen, Hazendreef 6, where we have a practice and training facilities.

Yes, this allows us to better adapt to your needs, to train or provide therapy when it suits you best. However, there may be surcharges for this for very different times.

Yes, on Thursday we are closed for the day.

Evie as the business manager has an international university title in her pocket as a PgD Clinical Animal Behaviourist, with main specialisations in dogs, cats and horses. This guarantees a solid and deep knowledge of the psyche of these animals, which enables her to provide expert advice and work on a very wide range of issues, or provide very expert training. In addition to this, she is also a qualified dog trainer and dog instructor. The experts we work with are all properly trained and educated, and can rely on their own experience as well as that of the team.

Every dog or cat therapist at Huisdierentherapie.be must either have obtained a university degree or at least a diploma from an institution recognised by us. A list of recognised non-university institutions can be obtained from us on simple request.

Yes, we continuously ensure to remain up-to-date with the latest scientific insights and developments.

You can cancel an appointment free of charge up to 36 hours in advance, afterwards we charge an administrative fee of 50% of the tariff of the foreseen session.

At this point we limit ourselves to dogs and cats.

Lectures by Evie as CAB can be provided upon request. Contact us for a quote tailored to your event.

Yes, we remain at your disposal for small questions or remarks through telephone and mail.
If a more elaborate session is required, it is possible to plan one without having to ask and pay for a new intake consultation.

At this time we only foresee to coach your dog at home. In the near future we will acquire indoor and outdoor training facilities allowing you to train together with your dog at our place.

Yes. We have a practice and two training grounds, one of which is set up as a sniffing forest to perfectly guide anxious dogs. Characteristics are that these grounds are low in stimuli and have little to no distractions from external factors.

We utilize reward-based strategies. Rewards always work better than punishments, which in case of dogs don’t work at all or even provide adverse effects.

We never apply physical punishments, because these usually don’t work and often provide adverse effects or even create new problems. We focus on creating a decent bond between animal and owner.

A session for dogs takes approximately 45 minutes of interaction, this is the maximum amount of time to stress a dog during one training. Take into account we are present during more or less one hour.

  • We start with an intake conversation whereby we asses the needs of the animal and the expectations of the owner. From there we will make a specific proposal for therapy or training, or a combination of both, either at your place, or on location, or through electronic means,…
  • We execute the program as we agreed, and adjust where necessary.

The first time we come to your place to meet your dog and the entire family, including the surroundings. We asses the needs and wishes, and propose a training program which is executed either entirely by our expert, either mainly by you, or a combination of both. We make a clear and transparent price proposal without any surprises afterwards.

During a first visit at your place we learn to know your dog and its surroundings.
Based on our observations, the body language and the communication of the dog at your house or at the location where the problem occurs (e.g. on the street), we provide a diagnosis and propose a treatment program to resolve the problem, or at least reduce the burden.

Yes, with all do pleasure! Do you want to know which breed is the best fit for you? Or are you in doubt in between several breeds? We visit your place and analyse your environment, discuss your expectations and advice on the options.
You prefer to adopt from the shelter? Even better! If you wish, we even accompany you to the shelter and make a first analysis of the candidate(s). That way you have an expert at your side who can tell you perfectly what you may expect and how to solve possible problems.

Group classes are expected during 2024 in small groups of up to 4 to 5 dogs at our training grounds in Keerbergen. They will be taught by a qualified dog trainer and behaviour coach.

Yes, we always work tailored to the needs of the individual animal, in order to achieve the best result. You can ask us what you want and what you find important. However, we will never do anything that reduces the wellbeing of the animal concerned.

Although for a long time a classical dog school has been seen as the normal start of a dog's life, the big disadvantage is that they are often very busy. This gives your puppy a lot of impressions and stimuli, distracting him; he then finds it harder to follow, and will develop more slowly. One puppy is already more sensitive to this than another, just as one dog will be much braver than another, who is more anxious.
With our training, you will not only see all the dog school basics, but so much more as you wish. All this at your dog's pace, and adapted to his level. In addition, our trainer also invests the necessary time in you as an owner, to teach you a lot about your dog's communication. Our trainer also gives you the necessary tips and tricks and works on creating and strengthening an optimal bond between you and your sweet four-legged friend. All things that hardly happen in a dog school, if at all, due to the limitations of the group format.
Last but not least, our individual and personalised approach is the best guarantee for preventing future behavioural problems, or addressing behavioural problems already present during lessons.

We have practice facilities that have all the features of a dog school.

  • Our training methods are based on the latest scientific insights, what means that we will only teach things to your pup in a positive and pleasant way. This training method reinforces the bond between dog and owner, and will make the pup learn to trust their owners;
  • To teach something new we use tasty treats. This means that in the beginning we will reward every good step. Along the way, when the pup has been familiarised sufficiently with the exercise, we will reduce the number of treats, until that level where we will only occasionally reward with treats;
  • We use the puppy packages as basis for the training, but along the way they are usually adapted to the individual needs of the pup at that moment, and we always anticipate to the expected progress of your dog;
  • Thanks to these puppy trainings the development of possible future behavioural problems is prevented;
  • You also learn more for yourself about how dogs function, how they think and that way you learn to know your puppy even better.

Yes, for cat coaching we only come to your place.

Starting fall 2023 we will have a practice, however, it will not be used for cat therapy. This because we prefer to coach cats always within their home environment.

Absolutely never! It would be ineffective to punish a cat. The treatment of a problem with cats will usually consist making adaptations to their living environment, and/or to improve the communication with the housemates.

Take into account one hour per visit.

We come to your house to assess the situation and the living environment of the cat, and to observe the body language and communication of your sweetheart.
Often we can already improve the situation with some simple modifications, but if additional follow-up is required, we draft a follow-up program to reduce or eliminate the issue.

Our rate per class hour is € 80, VAT inclusive. A two hour start-up consultation is €140, VAT inclusive. For specific packages you can find the rates in the description.

An electronic consultation is € 40 per half hour started, VAT incl, then € 20 per quarter hour started.

For home visits, we charge a mileage fee of c€ 50 per kilometer round trip, starting from the sixth kilometer from our location, and this via the fastest route according to Google Maps. Also for hours worked outside normal working hours (Mon-Sat after 20h00, Sundays and holidays all day) we charge a supplement of € 10 per half hour.

However, from a distance of 21 kilometers onwards we are forced, due to heavy traffic, to charge a travel fee of € 42 per hour round trip, pro rata temporis, based on the fastest route according to Google Maps.

During the first conversation we will always make a proposal based on your needs and expectations, in order to go through a program successfully. We make clear arrangements and provide you with a price offer immediately for that, guaranteed without surprises afterwards. Should you agree with our proposal, we draft an invoice and we send it to you, or you can choose to pay immediately using Bancontact or Payconiq.

The intake consultation is always charged at the end of the visit.

The intake consultation is always due by the end of the visit. You can pay using Bancontact or Payconiq, both using the app as a terminal. Additional purchases can be paid immediately as well, or afterwards through invoice.
Invoices are easy-to-pay through Bancontact/Payconiq using the QR-code we provide.

The first contact is always due immediately. The payment term for our invoices is 15 calendar days, unless the payment has been done beforehand during the intake consultation, or you opted to pay during each individual training. In these cases the invoice is only for information.
Together with each invoice you receive our detailed conditions.

Yes, and this from the sixth kilometre counted from our location (Keerbergen). Unfortunately, energy prices force us to partially pass this on to the customer. As a basis for this, we take the quickest route calculated from our location to your home.

However, starting from a distance of 210 kilometres, we are forced by traffic congestion to charge a rate of 42 euros per hour of driving there/back, pro rata temporis, based on the fastest route according to Google Maps.

Yes, this is possible. Should you wish this it suffices to discuss this during the intake consultation. We split the invoice in three parts, whereby the first invoice will be slightly higher, and the second and third invoice equal. You will have respectively two, six and ten weeks payment term.
There are no additional charges or interests to this service, and discounts applicable to promotional packages remain valid.

Yes, this is possible. It is possible to pay at the end of each individual session directly to the expert. We prefer you to do this through Bancontact/Payconiq. Cash is also an option, but do take into account we do not foresee change.
If you opt to pay per lesson, any applicable discounted tariffs of packages are no longer valid, and we charge each lesson individually. This because our administrative fees are substantially higher this way.

Yes, you can. We have a terminal at your disposal both during house calls as on our market stand. Besides regular banc cards we also accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Google Pay and Apple Pay.
You can also opt to pay using the Payconiq-app, or using the QR-code on our invoice.
