Patent prosecution
We want to help you achieving the protection you merit, that is why prosecuting patents (including drafting and preparing the application) is one of DenK iP's core services. The high technical and legal competence of our employees is key to successfully representing your interests before the Belgian or European patent office (or any other patent office, in close collaboration with external partners).
We monitor each application from start to finish and guide you in the patenting process:
Starting with a detailed description of your invention and well-drafted claims, we then perform preliminary checks to make sure all information required for filing has been provided. All mandatory forms and documents are prepared accurately and timely filed at the official authority. During examination, we never lose sight of your product and market situation, so that the finally granted claims are in line with the patent protection you require. We reply to official communications, either by arguing or by amending the patent application documents, always in close interaction with you. You can sleep on both ears as we provide you with the necessary reminders including the payment of the yearly administrative fee after grant of your patent.
Patentability search
Are you really the first to have this great idea? At DenK iP we are experienced in performing patentability searches using state of the art search tools. In this way, we can find the most relevant prior art for your invention. Based on the information found, we provide you with a thorough analysis regarding the patentability of your idea.
Patent drafting
A good patent application is the basis for obtaining appropriate patent protection for your invention. At DenK iP we love to convert great ideas into well-written patent applications. We are focussed on drafting patent applications and claims with a sufficiently broad scope, while providing the necessary fall backs to deal with prior art popping up during examination. As technical well-trained people and patent experts we are ready to assist you in letting your patent protection meet your requirements so as to support your business in full.
Validation
Once you have obtained a granted European patent, you still need to validate it in the different countries covered by the European Patent Convention. At DenK iP, we are experienced in guiding this validation process.
We can provide you with guidance on which countries to select for validating your granted patent, and once selected, we take care of the required formalities for assuring validation in the selected countries.
Renewal payment
Patent rights can only be kept in force when renewal fees are paid in a timely manner. No worries: at DenK iP we provide the service of accurately following up the maintenance of your patent rights. We remind you in due course to discuss whether or not you need to renew your patent rights and take care of the necessary formalities to guarantee that fees are paid in time.

Idea harvesting
Your research and development department has created an exciting new product but you are not sure whether it brings about patentable ideas. Before you make your product public by selling it, we can help you identify patentable subject matter.
We can screen your new product or even organise a brainstorm meeting where the different aspects of the product are evaluated so as to grasp possible inventions to protect the IP of your product in the best possible way.
Providing Ip information
Our team is involved in training people in the patent profession in private practice as well as in industry. Furthermore, we also regularly organise information sessions regarding interesting topics. Do you have a particular IP related topic for which you or your firm require more information? Feel free to ask questions or to check the possibility of an in-house information session.
Freedom to operate
You are ready to bring your product on the market, but are you really sure you are not infringing patent rights from a third party? Even if you have patent protection on one or more aspects of your product, this does not imply that you have the right to bring your product on the market.
Our qualified people can assist you in indicating the risks that you will be infringing third parties’ rights. We evaluate whether your product falls under existing rights and if so, we help you to evaluate the consequences of the risk and indicate what actions can be taken...
Assistance in legal cases
Patent conflicts may be dealt with in court. Although an attorney at law will represent you as a client before court, we as patent experts often can make the difference. We typically assist the attorney at law, to provide both the technical expertise for defending your case, as well as to help in setting out the strategy to follow, keeping in mind the specifics of patent law procedures. But, aside from this, we can also advise you on actions you can take to improve your position and to anticipate the different possible outcomes of a court case.
Competition watching
Would you like to keep one step ahead of your competitors? If so, it is at least important to know what they are working on and which key ideas they try to protect. DenK iP has the capabilities and tools to keep you informed about the patent rights published by your competitors as soon as these become public.
We can provide you periodically with their latest published patent applications and patents, so you become aware what products they likely are working on and whether they are entering your working field or even will block your freedom to market.
Ip training
If you are not familiar with patents or intellectual property in general, we are very happy to introduce you to the basics. But if you really want to get a hold on intellectual property, we are more than willing to give an in-depth training on the subject.
TRADE MARKS
A trademark is a type of intellectual property that is typically a sign, design, or expression that is used to identify products or services from a particular source.
DESIGNS
Design protection is a type of intellectual property that may be obtained for the appearance of a product, or the appearance of part of a product. The appearance may relate to a shape, colour, texture, et cetera, that distinguishes the design from that of known designs.
COPYRIGHTS
A copyright is a type of intellectual property that is strictly related to works that result from authorship. Protection by a copyright prevents third parties from unauthorized copying and multiplying your copyrighted work.
