About the childcare centre

Mezennestje is a childcare centre with a long-standing tradition in Wingene. We have places for 47 children aged 0 to 3 years. The centre is managed on a day-to-day basis by team coach Hannah Lahousse.

How we work

The children are divided into four mixed-age groups: Vosjes, Eekhoorns, Bijtjes and Uiltjes. Each group has its own character, but we always strive to create a warm, homely atmosphere in every group.

Our team consists of 15 childcare practitioners and one logistics assistant, who work together to care for the children. Everyone contributes every day to providing high-quality childcare.

For the youngest children in our groups, we focus strongly on helping them feel secure, supporting their motor and language development, providing plenty of encouragement and, above all, giving them lots of cuddles. Every child has their own routine, and we do our best to follow it. In this way, we aim to ensure that every child feels at home with us.

As soon as we notice that the children need more challenges, we continue to focus on the different areas of development within the group. We identify where children could benefit from additional stimulation and adapt our daily activities accordingly, such as potty training, arts and crafts, sensory activities and much more. In short, there is something for everyone!

Sleep class – Centrumschool Wingene

In addition to our regular groups, we also offer a sleep class in collaboration with Centrumschool. Children starting in the preschool class have the opportunity to register for our sleep class.

In practice, this means that we collect the children from school at around 11:30 a.m. They enjoy a hot meal with us and can then rest until 1:30 p.m. At 2 p.m., we take the children back to school.

What matters to us

Guided by our motto, “There’s always weather for playing outside”, we place great importance on outdoor play at Mezennestje. As soon as the sun comes out, we take the children to one of our outdoor areas.

For the youngest children, we have a specially adapted terrace and a designated area in our garden. For children who need a little more challenge, we offer a covered terrace and a sunny garden full of toys.

In short, we provide childcare where everyone can feel at home!

Regarding the childcare schedule

To ensure that we can fully fulfil our pedagogical role and build a strong bond with your child, your child must attend childcare for an average of at least four full days per week. Half-day attendance is not possible.

Kindercentrum cannot guarantee the minimum number of childcare days at the start of the placement, which means your child may initially attend fewer days. As soon as occupancy allows, the childcare provider will inform you, and the number of childcare days must be increased to at least four days per week.
