Since joining the Energy Departement of Law Firm Janson Baugniet in 2012, Christophe has been working extensively in the field of energy with a focus on the electricity sector and renewable energies. He works both as a lawyer in Belgium (Brussels Bar) and as a consultant on projects in the Middle East (Jordan), Africa especially the ECOWAS countries (I took part in projects in Burkina Faso, Djibouti, Guinea-Conakry, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Niger). In this quality, he regularly works in close cooperation with power system engineers and financial analysts to deliver the best solutions to clients. Throughout the years he developed the following skills :
- Project Management ;
- Drafting of technical and commercial proposals, notably for International Development Agencies/Banks (WB, AFD, AfDB, EUROP AID, USAID, GIZ, EBRD, BEI, etc.);
- Advising public institutions (NRA, administrations) and governments on policy and regulatory framework development in energy both in Belgium and Africa;
- Drafting of Laws and regulations;
- Drafting/amending Grid codes for transmission and distribution networks (Belgium, Djibouti, Jordan, Tajikistan) ;
- Assistance in the liberalization of energy markets;
- Assistance in expending access to electricity – rural electrification (mini-grids, etc.);
- Drafting of various energy contracts (PPA, BOT, PPP, connection agreements, supply);
- Drafting of mechanisms for the promotion of renewable energies and energy efficiency ;
- Assistance to private companies seeking administrative authorisations for the building and exploitation of generation units, private distribution networks, supply of electricity, / Assistance to clients seeking permits (including environmental permits) to build and exploit electricity generation units in Belgium (especially windfarms);
- Legal Due Diligence ;
- Litigations before belgian Jurisdictions (Council of State, Constitutionnal
Court, Courts and Tribunals of the Judicial Order) ;
Christophe holds a Master Degree in Law from the Free University of Brussels (Belgium) and a LL.M in Oil and Gas Law from the University of Aberdeen (UK)
