Alain d'Ieteren, born in June 1946, graduated in Law in 1970 and obtained an LL.M. in Business Law (Université Libre de Bruxelles - U.L.B.) in 1972.
He started working as an attorney-at-law in September 1970 at the law firm Simont Gutt & Simont, and then joined Janson in January 1972, becoming a partner in January 1979.
Alain d'Ieteren was an assistant to Professor H. Bekaert (Law Faculty of the Université Libre de Bruxelles) from 1968 to 1980. During that period he regularly published papers in Belgian legal journals and international conferences, in the fields of insolvency law, criminal liability, civil liability and liability of the Stock Exchange Commission (Commission de la Bourse), among others.
He practises labour law, business law, consumer law, distribution law and insolvency law. He is also a Receiver appointed by the Commercial Court of Brussels and a deputy judge at the Court of First Instance of Brussels.Since 1988, he has given lectures on business law and especially insolvency law to attorneys-at-law during their traineeship with a view to the Bar admission exam (CAPA - Certificat d'aptitude à la profession d'avocat).
Alain d'Ieteren is a member of the International Association of Young Lawyers (Association internationale des jeunes avocats - A.I.J.A.). He was a member of the executive committee and chaired the business law committee from 1985 to 1987.
