Food Safety is a culture, not a program



Authorized Economic Operator is a statute designated to a company with an appropriate record of conduct, that has an adequate control system, with a sound financial structure and that is respecting safety regulations.

A certified company is a company that obtained the AEO-certificate and therefore is considered to be reliable for customs transactions in the whole EU. These companies are provided with certain benefits by the customs authorities throughout the EU. The status is confirmed by an AEO-certificate

Bio Swiss


Internationally, organic standards vary as to their strictness. In order to ensure that the imported components of Bud products also comply with the strict Bio Suisse requirements, farmers and processors abroad must comply with the Bio Suisse Standards. Compliance is monitored by the Label Commission Import (LCI) Label Commission Import on the basis of the inspection reports issued by the local inspection bodies.



CERTISYS is a control and certification organization, whose activities are governed accordingly by the public authorities and legislation. CERTISYS is accredited for structure and procedures, in accordance with guide standard ISO 65 (EN 45011), which requires independence, competence and impartiality CERTISYS’s basic task consists in guaranteeing the rigorous respect of the applied standards on products, systems or services.

The issuance of the certificate acts as a security for the consumer or the user. In Organic Farming for instance, this implies the ability, by means of a qualified staff, a local or regional based network and specific tools, to assist a great number of actors of the organic field, aiming at guaranteeing conformity and traceability to the European , American or Japanese standards, according to the market targeted.


ISO 9001

International Organization of Standardization is the world largest standards developing organization. ISO launches the development of new standards in response to sectors and stakeholders that express a clearly established need for them.

ISO 9001:2008 is now firmly established as the globally accepted standard for providing assurance about the quality of goods and services in supplier-customer relations. This standard provides a set of standardized requirements for a quality management system, regardless of what the user organization does, its size, or whether it is in the private, or public sector.


ISO 22000

International Organization of Standardization is the world largest standards developing organization. ISO launches the development of new standards in response to sectors and stakeholders that express a clearly established need for them.

ISO 22000 specifies the requirements for a food safety management system. Every organization , regardless of its size, which is involved in any aspect of the food chain needs to demonstrate its ability to control food safety hazards in order to ensure that the food remains safe for human consumption.

Through its ISO 22000 certification Molenbergnatie NV demonstrates that:

  • A food safety management system has been implemented , which is carefully monitored, maintained and updated in order to deliver a safe product to the consumers.
  • The statutory and regulatory food safety requirements are complied with.
  • Customers food safety requirements are assessed and evaluated in order to improve customer satisfaction
  • Subjects in relation to food safety are effectively shared with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders in the food chain
  • The organization complies with the prescribed food safety policy and that this is also demonstrated to the relevant stakeholders.



Sedex, the Supplier Ethical Data Exchange, is a not for profit membership organization dedicated to driving improvements in responsible and ethical business practices in global supply chains.


As a socially responsible company, Molenbergnatie subscribes to the principles of the ‘Ethical Trading Initiative’ reflected in the EIT base code. The ETI Base Code is founded on the conventions of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and is an internationally recognised code of labour practice.      



UTZ CERTIFIED Good Inside is a market based sustainability program dedicated to creating an open and transparent marketplace for agricultural products. Besides coffee UTZ CERTIFIED has developed sustainability models for the production of cocoa and tea, and offers traceability services for palm oil. Within the UTZ CERTIFIED program farmers are trained in good agricultural and business practices with care for people and the environment, which lead to increased crop yield, improved quality and reduced costs.

UTZ CERTIFIED’s vision is to achieve sustainable agricultural supply chains in which farmers are trained to be professionals, industry takes responsibility by demanding and sourcing sustainably grown products and consumers buy products that meet their standard for social and environmental responsibility.




The European Cocoa Association is a trade association that groups the major companies involved in the cocoa bean trade and processing, in warehousing and related logistical activities in Europe. Together, ECA Members represent two-thirds of Europe’s cocoa beans grinding, half of Europe's industrial chocolate production and 40 % of the world production of cocoa liquor, butter and powder.



The goal of European Warehouse keepers Federation is to promote the interests of the warehousekeepers and to unify and improve the quality of warehousing services throughout Europe as well as creating a European level playing field in legislation concerning the warehousing sector.



The task of the Federaal Agentschap voor de veiligheid van de Voedselketen (Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain) is to guarantee the safety of the food chain and the quality of our food to protect the health of humans, animals and plants. In accordance with the Federal law of 4 February 2000, the Agency is responsible for laying down, implementing and enforcing measures related to the analysis and the management of risks that may affect the health of consumers.



The Max Havelaar Foundation was started in 1988 in the Netherlands, it is a hallmark of fair trade products. The initiative was developed in consultation between Mexican coffee farmers and a Dutch relief organization. The organization is among others supported by ICCO, the interchurch organization for development cooperation.

In many other countries there are foundations that use the same goal and the same method. The Max Havelaar label is used in around 23 countries for products originating from about 55 countries. Approximately one and a half million farmers and workers directly benefit from the organization. All these organizations are affiliated to the international Fairtrade Labelling Organizations (FLO). The products carry the Fairtrade Mark (the international version of the Max Havelaar label).

Fairtrade is a global certification and verification body, first set up in 2003 to independently certify Fairtrade products.

The aim is to come to a fairer global trade. Fairtrade uses their experience and expertise to help producers, traders and brands to spread fair practices across supply chains.

FLO-Cert and Fairtrade Max Havelaar are only directly certifying producers, importers, traders and manufacturers. Molenbergnatie as warehouse keeper can only be certified by FLO-cert as per request and at the initiative of individual market participants.

The Federation of Cocoa Commerce Ltd - a truly international trade organization for the private sector representing all areas of the cocoa supply chain.

The new internationally focused Federation is now in a leading position to respond to the challenges posed by today's complex cocoa supply chain. The Federation operate to the highest standards of discretion, fairness and integrity in the conduct of the business and in the relationships with members and third parties. The Federation is actively involved with many initiatives to address issues of sustainability, quality standards, transport/warehousing, finance and socio-economic conditions which have an impact upon the cocoa trade and industry.



A comprehensive HACCP study was conducted in accordance with the applicable regulations. Risk assessments were prepared, procedures and processional flowcharts were made and the PRP and the CCP‘s were determined. This study is an integral part of our ISO 22000 certification.
